Presentation

Traversée par la vallée de la Woluwe, c'est une commune résidentielle de 7,2 km2 située dans l’est de l’agglomération bruxelloise. Elle présente un paysage contrasté : des reliquats d'habitat rural côtoient le complexe universitaire de l'UCL ainsi que de nombreux sièges d'entreprises et des centres administratifs. Le grand complexe commercial du Woluwe Shopping Center est également implanté sur le territoire de la commune. Les parcs Malou, Georges Henri, des Sources, de Roodebeek, du Slot, du Neerveld, le jardin Tomberg et le jardin des Plantes médicinales sont autant de zones de grand intérêt écologique. Woluwe-Saint-Lambert est aussi une commune qui privilégie la vie culturelle avec de nombreux centres créatifs et un pôle culturel au Wolubilis. Si les hôtels de maître et immeubles cossus se côtoient sur les grandes artères qui délimitent le quartier - avenue de Tervueren, avenue de Broqueville, boulevard Saint-Michel, entre autres -, la commune est néanmoins multiforme. Le phénomène d'urbanisation qui s'est développé progressivement sur près d'un siècle, a réussi à intégrer Woluwe-Saint-Lambert dans la ville tout en assurant à ses habitants un cadre de vie privilégié, aéré et doté d'un équipement collectif diversifié, d'amples espaces verts et de moyens de communication aisés.
