En tant qu'acteur du numérique sensible aux enjeux environnementaux, BRAINYTECH s'est engagé depuis plusieurs années dans une démarche « Numérique responsable » dans le cadre d'une stratégie globale de réduction des impacts environnementaux et sociaux négatifs des activités de l'organisation.
Agir pour rendre le numérique plus responsable va bien au-delà des bonnes pratiques que l'on peut mettre en place rapidement et dont on peut mesurer l'efficacité par des indicateurs.
Ce qui ne veut pas dire que ces dernières soient inutiles, au contraire !
Dans ce contexte, BRAINYTECH a initié un projet d'outil d'autodiagnostic de l'impact environnemental numérique permettant d'accompagner une réponse plus globale à une demande croissante d'information et d'action, tant dans le secteur privé que dans le secteur public, par les équipes dédiées aux sujets environnementaux, par les informaticiens eux-mêmes, ou par les utilisateurs des outils qui se soucient de leurs impacts environnementaux, souvent sans pouvoir trouver de réponse satisfaisante.
BRAINYTECH a également initié un projet de serious game sur le thème du numérique responsable afin de sensibiliser par le jeu aux impacts environnementaux et sociaux du numérique.
Enfin, en tant que Vice-Président du cluster numérique de Bourgogne Franche-Comté, BFC Numérique, en tant que Président de la communauté numérique de l'Yonne, numYco, ainsi qu'en tant qu'acteur de la filière numérique, j'ai initié, animé et/ou organisé des commissions, ateliers, conférences et autres travaux et évènements sur le thème du numérique responsable.

Actions started

  • Raise awareness on Sustainable IT (e.g. information workshop, MOOC, dissemination of good practice guides)
  • Establish a Sustainable IT Working Group within the organisation
  • Communicate to its stakeholders on the actions taken
  • Deployment of a security plan for its digital environments (antivirus, VPN, supplier audits, permanent monitoring)
  • Evaluate the robustness of its infrastructures (regular tests) and prioritise European infrastructures
  • Manage my fleet with an inventory by category
  • Measure the lifespan of my equipment by type
  • Favour the purchase of sustainable equipment (reparability and durability criteria)
  • Ensuring that its suppliers and service providers comply with their GDPR requirements or follow the principles of the GDPR in compliance with locally applicable data protection rules for other countries, environmental, social and diversity
  • Encourage diversity among my service providers, particularly in relation to disability issues
  • Use start-ups, associations and sustainable innovation projects to meet my needs for products and services, and participate in the structuring and improvement of these sustainable offers and services
  • Avoid unnecessary energy consumption e.g. by switching off at night, weekends and holidays
  • Plan the archiving and cleaning of data with its teams to reduce their environmental footprint
  • Measure the impact of its digital services (e.g. frequency of use or energy consumption) using a multi-criteria and global approach to the entire service (equipment, servers, networks, etc.)
  • Ensure the development of useful and efficient digital services
  • Reduce the environmental impact of its services: weight of images, videos, plugins, by favouring simpler or less energy-consuming solutions
  • Make its digital services accessible to as many people as possible (even in the event of poor connection quality, disability, etc.)
